May 25 - June 24, 2025
Opening: 6 pm on May 24, 2025
"Today (October 12, 2021), we celebrate Carlo Acutis, beatified exactly one year ago today: the influencer of God, the cyber-apostle, the patron saint of the Internet. The parish of St. Imre of Nyíregyháza-Jósaváros received the saint, who died at the age of 15 in an unusual way, as a stained glass window. He can be seen in the St. Imre Parish Church (the chapel of the St. Imre Gymnasium) wearing jeans, a t-shirt, sneakers, and with a laptop in his hand, in the company of other saints - Queen Gizella the Blessed, St. Elisabeth of the House of Árpád, and Pope John Paul II."
Máté Kovács's exhibition "This Is Where I Post From" explores themes such as alienation and loneliness, while reflecting on the virtual and physical spaces of gamer culture and religion, and their often overlapping characters. His multidisciplinary installation and documentary video works seek to answer the question of how new technologies restructure our society as well as reshape us as individuals and communities. Kovács articulates this problem through a collaboration with and the practice of Béla Rubócki, computer scientist, painter, and silicate restorer.
Máté Kovács graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2020 with a degree in painting. In 2019, he studied in Istanbul as a scholarship student of the Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi, where, in addition to painting, he also became interested in glass art, especially in the techniques of flat glass.
