Boglárka Dankó, Fanni Lévai and Roxána Mukus — A Soapy Spectre
aqb Mines — art quarter budapest (Nagytétényi 48-50. Budapest)
May 25 - June 24, 2025
Opening: 6 pm on May 24, 2025
The sculptures, paintings, and textile works of Boglárka Dankó, Fanni Lévai and Roxána Mukus evoke grotesque monsters and humorous fantasies to deconstruct the concept of abjection through a feminist lens. Their collective artistic practice explores anxiety induced by social norms and ideals of beauty. For the Goblin14 project, they present their new site-specific installation titled “A Soapy Spectre” alongside other new works. The artists write:
"The bathroom is a space of intimacy and self-care, where rituals of everyday transformation and internal tensions take place. The washbasin, the hairbrush, and the mirror are complicit witnesses to our struggles with ourselves, to the alternating waves of beauty and disgust. The triggers lurking here are the obstacles tackled by our collective. Our work mixes organic and synthetic materials, distorted anthropomorphic shapes, grotesque body-objects and collages of ulcer and pus. In addition, illustrations of real and imagined scenes reflect the fluctuations of subjectivity, the forming of identity, and the ambivalent play of desire.”
